Vein Removal

Dilated vessels often make themselves visible on the face or legs. They make a lot of people insecure, but fortunately there is a way to close them and make them disappear. Laser treatments are an option that does not cause any discomfort or downtime.

Laser thread vein removal

– who is it for?

Laser thread vein removal helps get rid of telangiectasia, the so-called spider veins. They are one of the most common forms of venous circulation disorders, which mainly affects women. These characteristic red or blue veins visible on the skin do not disappear by themselves and it is necessary to undertake treatment.

Laser therapy is also suitable for port wine stains (congenital malformations of capillaries) and cherry haemangiomas (also referred to as senile haemangiomas).

How to prepare

for the procedure?

The area of skin to be treated should not be tanned, therefore it is necessary to refrain from using sunbeds or self-tanners and sunbathing. You should discontinue using preparations with vitamin A derivatives, including retinol and isotretinoin a month before the planned session, as well as avoid treatments such as microdermabrasion or deep peels.

It is also not recommended to use cosmetics containing acids and vitamin C. A week before the procedure, refrain from consuming any herbal tees, diet supplements and other preparations containing photosensitizing herbs, including St. John’s wort and marigold.

How does laser thread

vein removal work?

This procedure is performed with Alma Harmony XL PRO neodymium-yag laser with 1064 nm wavelength. The skin does not require anesthesia, which is actually contraindicated, because anaesthetic creams shrink the vessels. The procedure takes on average 15 to 45 minutes and you may feel burning, pinching or pricking. You will not feel any pain or discomfort, as the exposing device is equipped with a special cooling tip.

The laser beam emitted during the treatment heats up haemoglobin, leads to coagulation and closure of the dilated vessel, without damaging the skin. A regenerating protective preparation is applied to the treated areas. Small vessels can be closed during the first session, but for larger ones, it is necessary to have several sessions at 6-week intervals.

Recommendations after

the treatment

Laser thread vein removal is a non-invasive treatment, so you can go home right afterwards, with no downtime. Patients are asked to refrain from wearing makeup for a day after the treatment and use skin regenerating preparation for seven days (as the skin may initially be reddened and slightly swollen).

In this period, you should avoid any activities that make blood rush to the skin or make it hot, such as hot baths, strenuous exercises or the sauna. Remember to wear SPF 50 for a month after the treatment.
