Removal

There are several modern methods of tattoo removal, but laser treatment is considered to be one of more effective and safe procedures. Unlike traditional methods (such as surgical excision), the risk of infection and scarring is reduced to a minimum and the patient does not feel any intense pain.

Who is laser tattoo

removal for?

Anyone who is dissatisfied with the appearance of their tattoo can remove it with laser. Regardless of the size or colour of your tattoo or how deep it is. The treatment is also recommended to patients who want to get rid of their permanent makeup.

Please remember that permanent dye removal from the skin takes a long time. For amateur tattoos it usually takes about 5 sessions, while professional ones – even a dozen sessions are needed to get rid of an unwanted tattoo. You need to have an 8- or even 10-week break between each session.

Do I have to prepare in any way

for laser tattoo removal?

Yes, just as with any other laser treatment, before you have your tattoo removed you should refrain from sunbathing. A month before the treatment it is recommended to stop using formulas containing retinol, isotretinoin or other vitamin A derivatives.

Deep peels, microdermabrasion or using cosmetics containing acids or vitamin C is also not recommended in this period. A week before the procedure, refrain from consuming any preparations containing photosensitizing herbs, i.e. St. John’s wort and marigold.

How are unwanted tattoos

removed with laser?

Before the procedure, an anaesthetic cream and an occlusive dressing will be applied to your skin, which takes about 40 minutes. Alma Harmony ND:YAG neodymium-yag laser type Q Switch with 1064/532 nm wavelength is used for this procedure.

The emitted photo-acoustic shock wave with nanosecond pulses breaks down pigment particles into small fragments, that can be removed from the body by means of phagocytosis. The procedure does not damage the epidermis, but you may feel slight pricks. After the procedure, i.e. after 5 – 60 minutes (depending on the size of your tattoo), a regenerating protective preparation will be applied to your skin.

Recovery after

treatment

Full recovery of the treated body area takes about 7 days. Initially the skin is reddened and swollen, there may also be some slight bleeding and scabs (they will fall off after a few days). During this time, it is recommended to use a protective preparation to accelerate the regeneration process.

Moreover, it is necessary to avoid activities that make your blood rush to the skin surface or get it hot, such as strenuous exercise, hot baths and alcohol consumption. If the tattoo you want to remove is on your face, you should refrain from doing makeup a day after the treatment. Cosmetics with SPF 50 should be used for a month.
