Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty

Every woman has a different vulva shape, its size varies too (it can change with age). The main indications for the procedure are oversized labia minora, which make it difficult to do sport and enjoy sexual intercourse. Oversized labia may occur in women who experienced difficult delivery, enjoy rich sexual life, often suffered from vaginal infections and wear jewellery in this area.

Having too large labia minora may cause psychological discomfort.

Labiaplasty

This treatment is also for women who want to rejuvenate their vulva after childbirth. The main contraindication for the procedure is a gynaecological cancer.

Labiaplasty is not recommended in women who have problems with blood clotting. The procedure is also not performed during pregnancy or menstruation.

Labiaplasty can be performed using two methods. The trim method, in which extra tissue is removed and sewn up directly or the wedge method, which maintains a natural border after a V-shaped piece of tissue has been removed. The procedure is performed under local or general anaesthesia. Labiaplasty can cause visible scarring.

It is recommended to use lubricants during sexual intercourse, as well as to exercise Kegel’s muscles, which increases labial sensitivity.
